The cooking method involves stir-frying the shrimp and using their juices in the preparation of the etouffee sauce which contains chicken stock, butter and spices such as oregano, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, thyme, green onion and diced tomatoes. The shrimp is added back to the etouffee sauce after simmering for a while.
